Beatriz Palenzuela
DIRECTION, CHOREOGRAPHY AND PERFORMANCE
The Art Director and coreographer of Babirusa Danza has been able to present her artistic productions in various national and international festivals. Her dance education includes Classic and Contemporary Dance in Spain, England,Germany, Holland and The United States. She has been awarded repeatedly both as an interpreter and artistic creator. She is also a founding member of the Community Coreographers Group in Conde Duque, Madrid.
Beatriz began her contemporary dance training at the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Marienma of Madrid and later studied with Carmen Senra (Madrid) and Henny Jurriens Stiching (Ámsterdam). She studied ballet at Iom Beitia’s school and at the Royal Academy of Dancing. In United States was selected at the Forsythe Project with Richard Siegal, Nik Ha ner and Dana Caspersen. She also attended courses with Roberto Oliván, David Zambrano, María Muñoz y Pep Ramis (Mal Pelo) and Mónica Valenciano among others.
She began her professional career with Larumbe Danza, Teresa Nieto, Pedro Berdäyes and Sharon Fridman. She joined the Trasdanza 2007 in Madrid organised by Asociación de Profesionales de la Danza with the choreographers Damián Muñoz, Carmen Werner, Da- niela Merlo, Michelle Man and Nicolas Rambaud.
Among other venues she has been invited as contemporary dance and creation teacher at Bambú Danza Madrid, Ars Madrid School of Music and Dance, Cultural Association Gruñidos Salvajes Madrid, Madrid European University, Madrid Dance Professional Association, Donosti Municipal School for Music and Dance and Madrid Descalzinha Danza
